Will my local dealer be upset?

I'm anxiously awaiting delivery of my new 325i. Since I can't drive it yet, I spend a lot of time browsing the forums and haven't seen this topic addressed yet.

My local dealer is/was completely unwilling to talk about any kind of a discount off of MSRP and also wanted to bend me over on trade in value. Once I saw what they were offering for the trade-in, I was out the door within seconds. He didn't even get a chance to ask if I'd be financing through BMW for 60 or 72 months.

I began contacting dealers within drivable distance and settled on one about three hours away. No one closer was within $1,000 of his price.

Anyway, I'll begrudgingly be bringing my car to the local guys for regular service / maintenance. Once they pull my car up in the computer, they'll know exactly where it was purchased (not there). My assumption is the maintenance can be done by any BMW service center and does not have to be the dealer where you bought your car. Is this correct?

Thanks.

BTW, I'd like to pull up to the dealership in my new BMW and ask the arrogant sales guy there if he can sell me a set of valve stem caps.

This has been discussed before in several threads. The service department could care less where you bought your car. BMWNA will reimburse them the same.

My servicing dealer is literally 5 blocks from my house but they would not budge on price. So I bought my car from a dealer 100 miles away. The car has been at the dealer already several times and as always I get first class service. Since I did not buy the car there I do not get a loaner but as far as I am concerned I get 1 better since I am chauffered to and from work.

Something to check into...

Many dealers that offer service loaner cars will not give you a loaner if you did not buy the car from them.

I have heard this many times yet, I have never had a problem. My car has only been serviced by its home dealer once in six years and I have never had an issue with getting a loaner from the dealer...to include a dealer in a different COUNTRY from where the car was purchased. Maybe I have been lucky...

Two dealers in my area offer loaners only to customers that purchased there cars from them.

It has to be a fairly big expense for the dealer to have a fleet of loaner BMWs.

I guess I should qualify my loaner experience...

They haven't always been BMW's. In the UK, I recieved a 316 or 320d and a 525 Touring once. After that they converted their entire fleet to Mini ONEs

Here in the US the dealer also sells Toyotas, so their loaners are Corollas or Camry's. Really I don't mind. All I want is something to get me to work.
