It is HOT today! 95 and heading north.
Got me to thinking, is it possible for my Nav and other electronics to be damaged by this heat? I seem to recall frying stuff in my car before, and wondered if there were any precautions I could/should take.
Couldn't find any other experiences of damage in a brief search, so I'm hopeful that the engineering done by BMW is sufficient to handle these temperatures.

I've never experienced any electronic related problems due to the heat. It worked fine even at 100F.

Thanks Alex, that's good to know. I have to go to Phoenix later and it'll be up to 120. I'll be able to keep the car in the shade though, when I leave it.
Today felt so hot I thought plastic would melt!

To prevent such troubles, prototypes are run through the death valley during development. So youŽll be fine.
Besides BMW, like all luxury manufacturers, BMW really wants to be able to sell cars to the wealthy in the near- and middle east (Saudi princes love thier toys). So theyŽre built to run fine in even hotter conditions than youŽll find in the US

Quote: | (Saudi princes love thier toys) | Met some Saudis recently. No princes, sorry. They told me summer tempratures reach 55C. Official temps rarely go above 50C as outside work is supposed to stop when temp is over 50. (That's 122F and 131F)

Man, does A/C even work during those temps? BMW must equip them with dual compressors...
