I just had my tires changed on my BMW 325 ci -- all 4. After leaving the shop, I am driving home and I hear a loud bang in the front end---but I see no debris and know I didn't run over anything. When I was pulling in front of my house, I heard a scraping sound when I pressed on the brakes. (note: the pads in the front have only 20% wear.) I started up the car then pressed on the brakes again--but no problem. Took it back to the tire dealer and they could find no problem. Get back on the road and have to press hard on the brakes and noticed a major shimmy to the left (but not when the brakes are applied normally.) Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I am confident that it must have been something that occured while the wheels were being replaced. THis was not evident prior to the wheel change. They seem to be a reputable dealer. Sorry for the long message. Thanks. |

Check your lugbolts. Perhaps they weren't torqued down completely.

The shimmy could be from an out of round or out of balance tire. The brake scraping is probably normal, might have crap on the rotor.
Like everyone else mentioned check the torque on the bolts.
Take the car back again and have them check the tire for out of round and balance. You may also have worn bushings that you notice now with the new tires.

Also if they rotated the back rims to the front you may have a bent rim that you feel through the steering wheel.
