If strut braces are as good as their manufacturers claim, why doesn't BMW use them on their own cars?
Or are they merely a psychological/peace-of-mind thing to have?

and there is basically a variation of them on pretty much all their cars now

Money. The average driver couldn't tell and doesn't get much benefit from them because they drive so sedately.
