  What Weight Oil To Use??

 What Weight Oil To Use??



I am moving to Arizona this weekend and I am changing my oil before the trip.I have always used 10w 40 high mileage oil.After looking around I see 5w50 and stuff have I been using the wrong oil?My car is a 1994 325i with 192k on it.Any help greatly appreciated thanks in advance too.

I'd have though 10/40 would be fine in that car.

Maybe:

1) SEARCH

2) RTFM

Current BMW recommendation is BMW 5W-30 ynthetic oil in all cars except certain M models and Z8s.

With 192K on it, I can't say you are using the wrong oil!

Before my 3er, I always used 10w in the summer, and 5w in the winter. Someone once told me that a thinner oil allows the car to heat up faster in the winter, and a thicker oil doesn't break down as fast in hot weather. Unless you are moving to Flagstaff, I'd stick with what you have been using.
