I would like to make a backup copy of my navigation DVD and use that in the car and keep the original in a safe place. Anyone here have experience in doing this?

I used the normal Nero DVD Burning ROM Utility and it made a fine backup copy. As a matter of fact I am thinking of using the backup and keeping the original in the house to ensure the summer heat doesnt damage it.

I made a backup copy of my wife's Navigation from her X5 and tried it in the new 6 I just bought. It didn't work, but not until later I found out that the 6 navigation DVD is compatible with the X5.
However, I tried my backup that I had made in the X5, and it wasn't able to read.
I guess I need to buy the DVD from eBay or the dealership.
