The problem is I want a e36 M3 but the mileage and year is too old and too high to get a loan from a major auto loan place capital one etc.Could I go to a small lot maybe have them finance me has anyone done this?

Try your bank and/or local credit union. I once bought a 35 year old car using the CU. with no problems. So long as the book value jives with your purchase price you should be good to go.
