If so, what happened? How did your insurance company handle it? What kind of coverage did you have? Did you get a brand new one? What would you recommend to others for extra secure or how to prevent it in the future.

I have not, but my sister had her Suburban stolen twice from her garage!  The first time, her husband had left the keys in it, and the garage door open... Heard it being driven off. Found it the next day, most likely the thieves were joy-riders... Minor damage, which insurance took care of. A month or so later, its stolen out of the garage again... someone still had the keys! This time they found it a week later, with the door panels all jacked and the rear seat missing... Probably used as a drug mule this time... Insurance once again payed for damage, and payed to have the locks changed... I tried to talk her into getting rid of it (who knows where it had been, what had gone on inside of it) but they kept it for a few more years and eventually sold it... If my BMW was stolen and recovered, I'd get it fixed and sell it... no idea what had been done to it, could get expensive later down the road... My .02.

Yikes.. I have to agree with you on that.. if someone stole my car I wouldn't want it anymore. I'm glad to hear not many people have had their BMW stolen.
I thought I read somewhere that Hyundi's were the car that was number 1 on the most stolen list.

Is this post a joke?
BMWs get stolen all the time.
How is that any different from having any other type of car stolen?
What makes this a BMW specific issue?
Virtually every new car manufactured now has an engine immobilizer like BMWs, and people continue to steal them.

You must be the one joking. This question relates to BMW in general because I want to know what people's experiences with having their BMW stolen. I don't own one (yet) and if there were people who answered "yes" perhaps I could learn from what happened to them. (i.e., invest in a certain security system, etc.)
Pilotman, what I don't understand is my post is just as relevant to the subject of BMW as another post "Are people on street less tolerant with BMW owners?" yet you don't seem to post your views on that thread like you do here. You could say that is a general post about the general topic of road rage. Why are you so uptight? Chill baby, chill.
