 What's so hard about I-Drive?

What's with all the complaints about I-drive? I've sold a lot of these cars and never had an issue with it, and never had any complaints or questions. All you have to do is understand what it's for. Before you leave the dealership or at home in your driveway, just setting everything to your personal preferences, including the stereo. After that's done there is nothing you should need to do in the I-drive while you're moving. It's just there to set everything up for your utmost convenience and preferences. MAKE SURE YOU SET UP THE STEREO FIRST! That's the only thing that would need to be operated while driving, and you have steering wheel controls that work great once everything else is programmed; same with Bluetooth phone. Anyway, I think the big confusion is just that a lot of people, including magazine test drivers, don't understand that I-drive is not meant to be used while moving. It's just an advanced setting menu... Alright, hopefully I'll get a customer today...

That's because people in AK are probably more self-reliant than those in warmer climates.

I AGREE. I got a 2006 525xi as a loaner from you guys yesterday and it happened to have iDrive. I had never played with iDrive before and I was able to get it down in less than 15 minutes. That included radio controls, climate controls, bluetooth connection, setting the speed warning ding to come on at 4mph and then laughing like an idiot each time it chimed.

I will however admit that for the first 5 minutes I couldn't understand how to turn up the volume because I thought I was supposed to do it through the iDrive menu. Boy I felt pretty dumb when I realized I actually had to do it "manually" haha.

Some just like to bitch about anything. if it is not iDrive, it is run flats, if not run flats, it is auto tranny's, 4 doors versus two doors, blah blah blah.

I ignore them as does BMW. Over 1 million cars sold annually. They can't be wrong.

I think the reality is some folks are resistant to change.

I remember the time folks thought computers for the home were unnecessary. I imagine their kids are dumber than a box of rocks.

Please tell me how navigating menus is easier than reaching over and pushing a button. I-drive = 2K masturbation toy.

You must be right. Windows and McIntosh's would be so much easier with buttons instead of a mouse.

Don't be pissed because you decided not to get iDrive. Consider this a learning experience for your next purchase.
