Hey Everyone.. Just wondering who will keep their bimmers for an extended period of time? I want to b/c I love this car (well give to my wife and get a E92 ) however I am concerned with keeping it after the warrenty runs out especially b/c of i-Drive...what are your all thoughts? Mechanically BMW's are great but all this new technology (adaptive lights, door lights etc) I am concerned it will be VERY expensive to fix afterward. |

Yes. As long as it doesn't start to sound and drive like a bucket of bolts down the road...which, knock on wood, won't happen.

I suspect many people know before they actually get the car if they will keep it for a long time. For example, it would be incredibly stupid to lease a car if you were contemplating keeping it so you would have to plan accordingly.

Lease for 3 years and leave long-term maintenance to the next owner.

Nope. 3years then onto whatever floats my wife's boat. Hopefully a 335i but I'll have to drag her around the Lexus and Infiniti dealers no doubt. Could be a 5er, M45, GS

Unless our X starts to seriously act up, we'll purchase ext. warranty and keep it for at least another 4 years. My mom usually likes to get rid of cars after 7 or so years, citing "high maintenance costs that aren't worth it".
