First, thanks to Kris L for the PM
How does BMW derive the tire pressures posted on the sticker inside the drivers door? They seem to be miles from optimum tire pressures. The door sticker says 46PSI rear and 39PSI front. I am running Goodyear F1's. I took my 330 to an auto x this weekend and tried various pressures and based on info from Kris L and several BMW drivers at the event I found my best times and no roll over at 34PSI front and 33PSI rear. When talking to some friends they seemed surprised at the tire pressure numbers that BMW posts. I left the tires at this pressure for the 55 mile ride home and loved it. The car felt more planted to the road at 80+ MPH.
Suffice it to say that I'll put a few more pounds in but won't be returning to the BMW rec. tire pressures. Based on my limted testing and conversations with numerous people it seems that the BMW pressure numbers are way off the mark.
I guess there is not really a question here just looking for additional insights/variations on BMW's tire pressure recommendations.

Are you running RunFlat's at std. size.?
If not that might be part of it.

There are two sets of pressures listed: one is for a full load of passengers and cargo, and one is for just a driver and passenger. Which one are you looking at?

They are not runflats, they are Goodyear F1's. I'm only seeing one set of numbers provided, not two sets for loaded and unloaded. Although it does list a maximum load weight.
I just seems the BMW numbers are high compared to our other cars. The 2006 TL calls for 33 front and 22 rear while my 2000 Miata calls for 26 all around. It seems that since these are for higher profile OEM tires and would have probably had softer sidewalls they would not be that much lower.
