More about the Missing Pop-up Arrow Display

As many know, the CCC navigation pop-up arrow display is missing during route guidance.

This only happens when the Bordmonitor assist window has a map displayed. If you have the trip computer or anything else displayed, the pop-up arrow display works.

This problem was not resolved in Progman 24 (my cars were just upgraded to Progman 24) nor did BMW expect to resolve it there - the TSB indicates possible resolution in March 2007.

So if you want the pop-up display to work, you can have anything you wish displayed in the main Bordmonitor window but you cannot have a map displayed in the assist window.

This is applicable to E90, E91, E92, E60, E61, E63, and E64 ranges.

You should note not all cars have this issue.

Your post does not make sense to me. The pop up arrow window shows up in the assist window. Correct? So how can you have something else displayed at the same time?

Of course, I cannot test all cars but from what BWM said to me, it sounded like it impacted all cars.

Ja, korrekt.

The pop-up temporarily replaces whatever is in the assist window. For example, if you have the Trip Computer in the assist window and guidance is on, when the satnav speakers, a pop-up window with direction arrow will replace the Trip Computer temporarily. After she/he/it speaks, the pop-up window is replaced by the Trip Computer or whatever was there before.

Ah ok, I see what you are saying. I never used the voice or the popup since I have HUD. I thought you were referring to the pop up selected in the assist window. You mean it pops up as directions are delivered to the driver.

I must say BMW's quality control and testing for the iDrive software is really bad. Numerous glitches continue to affect operation of the system. The pop up window, iPOD broken with early versions of CIP 24, mysterious menu changes with no documentation, etc. They are more or less using the owners as guinea pigs.

Korrekt. BMW uses the term Pop-up and it is clear once you know what they mean.

.
Ja, I don't get how they lose things like this. FYI, iPod was broken with early versions of Progman 23, not 24. Progman 24 just came out.
