 Questions about rims RearWD/Offset

I was wondering if it matterd what kind of mags go on my car. (325is 87) can i put rims on it for a front wheel drive car?
Can anyone explain the offset to me? as far as i can tell the offset is how far u can push the rim on until it grabs a hold of the threading. if u have a negative offset it pushes in farther meaning u can have a wider tire.
I looked it up and my car has a 25-35mm offset for the rear.

The wheels for a FWD car will take a large spacer to fit on an E30. Without the spacer, the tire would be too far in and rub both the shock tower and inner fender. Search the "E30 forum" for more insight.
