it really does. when i rent cars, anything from GM is my least favorite. pontiac is the worst of them all; chevy has gradually improved in recent years, but still not where it needs to be (this is why i don't like avis rental).. mediocre looks. no refinement inside. i had a few incidences where some controls in brandnew cars didn't even work. also, i haven't yet driven a single gm w/ comfortable seats/headrests... they've had many years to improve their quality, especially under the protection of the us gov't (i.e. the us imposing the japanese voluntary export restraints, which basically drove up overall prices of cars sold in the us). management of GM probably thought american consumers would keep on buying their cars out of patriotism. wrong!
