Hey guys - wanted to know if anyone has purchased the Wheel and Tire Damage Policy when they bought or leased their new car from BMW? The finance manager says he has it on his own BMW and recommends it. Says he has used it twice on his run flats and it has more than paid for itself. It runs around $486 for 3 year/12,000 miles a year lease. Said he had something damage a wheel once and punctured a run-flat another time and the warranty covered them both. Relevant purchase or just trying to sell me something?

I bought the coverage for my car and it is for 5 years and unlimited mileage. I replaced one tire already during my ED and it cost over $500 for the one tire. I suppose it will be cheaper at home than in Switzerland.
My insurance in Germany paid for this replacement, but it showed me how valuable the insurance can be. All I did was scrape the curb and it sliced the sidewall. I understand that the repair of flats is difficult (if possible at all) and I don't want to run the risk of the high cost of replacement.
If after a couple of years I decide to keep the car long term, I will also be purchasing the extended maintenance and warranty. I think the car is great, but I'm not interested in taking the chance of a high cost repair on some of the electronics.

I had a simple puncture in the centre of the tread area of my run-flats. Dealer said they (run-flats) were not repairable and it would need replacing. The tire and wheel warrantee coughed up $590. It took a couple of weeks to get the cheque. Looks like the tire and wheel warrantee has already paid for itself.

I purchased the Wheel and Tire warranty also. So far I have had a negative experience. I still have an unresolved claim for 24.95.
Had a tire repair from a nail. Took the car to a well known tire store. All that went well. I submitted receipts to the warranty claims office.
THe first letter denied the claim as I di not contact the warranty dept first to handle the tire repair. Bottom line warranty co. had a negotiated price with the national tire dealer and since I did not go through the warranty office they would not pay the claim.
Also they said the tire stor would have had to cal them not me. Guy at tire store when I went back to discuss said he would have moved me to the back of the line if he knew he had to deal with this warranty company. He said he didn't mean it in a bad way but he said it is just a admin nightmare.
My claim has still not been reimbursed and the warranty company did everything they could to find the loop holes. THe company is fidelity warranty and this was purchased at the BMW dealer when we bought the car.
Trust me I know all the ways to get attention, but I just have to pick my battles and this is lower on the list right now. I'll have my opportunities to get back , like now.
Don't buy the extened contract for wheels and tires.

Fortunately, I live within 20 minutes of my dealership and will in most cases be able to let them do the repairs so there will be no issues. The reason I bought the tire warranty in the first place was because of my concern of replacing my run flats. I'm really not concerned with an occasional repair.
I've already had one run flat replaced and am real glad I didn't have to pay for that one! They are very expensive.
I don't understand them hassling you over $25, but if their warranty instructions did not tell you to call first, they ought to pay anyway.
Good luck
