Very dense fog last night when driving home after dinner. I realized one interesting thing. The fog lights seemed to work better with the DRL instead of the Xenons. So I just left the Xenon off, turned on the fog lights and the DRL only.
Do you feel the same?

Someone always points this out on the threads where people want xenons in their fogs. White light does NOT penetrate fog.

in fact it will "bounce" more light back to you and decrease you visibility more. HID fogs are an Oxymoron.

From the just-so-it's-said department, be sure to decrease your speed when you go to fogs-only; the braking distance at the speed you're going must not exceed the reach of your lights.

My experience in Germany (And correct me if I'm wrong) was that the fog lights are there, and aimed so, to pick up the reflective "clickers" along the road, not to enable you to "see" in the fog. I was also cautioned not to slow down dramatically because the Germans don't and will just run over you.
