I have a 2006 325i and I'm picking up a 2007 X5 on Monday. I'm looking at my keychain and thinking that having two of these enormous key fobs on my key chain is going to be a pain. (I know, with two beemers, why am I complaining, jeez).
I asked the salesman if it was possible to set one fob to work on two cars and he said it was not possible.
This may shock some of you, but I've found that sometimes saleman aren't fully open and honest.
So, I thought I would ask the real experts.
How have you other 2-beemer owners handled this problem?
Thanks
PS The insurance compnay asked if I had a Boomerang on the new car. This is a device to prevent theft. It requires you have an additional fob with you when you drive the car. If I had that for each beemer, i'd have 4 fob's on my keychain! I'd need to get bigger pockets in my pants!

Why do you need to have both fobs on you at the same time? Since its impossible to drive two cars at the same time, just leave one fob at home..
Also, it is quite impossible to code one fob to two cars..

I know someone who is a car junkie and likes to brag about it.
Meet him for dinner and he has his Porsche, BMW, and Lexus keys on one key ring. Lays them out on the table with his cell phone. Then there is JIMMY540i's key ring (search archives).
WTF is the point?!
Just take the car key you need and put the house key in your pocket IMHO.

| No. Only in America. Travel outside of the US and you will never hear 'Bimmer' in an English speaking country.
Beemer!
