Battery/Charging System
I drive a '01 325i usually just on the weekends. It is in like new condition, and is kept in a 3 sided carport, basically a garage without the door.
around october the battery appeared to be dead. the car wouldn't start every time, so i jumped it a few times to get it going until i could get in for a new battery.
so with the new battery, car was starting fine until this morning, colder than usual, but the battery is brand new.
So what else could the problem be? There have been no modifications, and stereo is factory. I have noticed also that sometimes the time displayed is normal and sometimes military time. that is also wierd.
| | Reply » Battery/Charging System | I have had problems with a slow leak in my 01 325xit. Like your car, it is used infrequently. It has a new 8/07 Duracell battery.
Once I found the back seat interior light had been left so that was an obvious cause of DB. However, I think there is enough drain with standard OEM items to drain the battery over a period of time.
Radio station presets, alarm, etc, all draw current when car is shut down. I cannot get more that five or six weeks storage w/o a DB. Either install a quick disconnect to the battery terminal or use a trickle charger. gordo
