Could someone on the forum offer me their opinion of BMW NA's rationale behind pulling the N52 530i ONLY FROM THE U.S.? Don't want the long-term reliability issues and lower economy of the 535. Don't want the de-tuned and lame 528. What's up?:

Because it doesn't make sense to have 5 different versions of the "5" series.

the 528i is not a de tuned 530i..it is an upgraded 525i.. 230hp vs the 215hp..
the 530i is being upgraded 45hp to a 535i...255hp vs. 300 twin turbo..
i assume the 550i stays with the 360hp V8..
i dont see what the problem is

$1 says, the new 528 will be just as quick as the 530. In the same way the 328 feels just like a 330. I keep telling people the "230hp" engine is underated too, nobody is listening, time & dyno's will prove me right.

Quit complaining. You have a choice whether or not to buy the car and even if it does break, it has a warranty so it's not like it costs you an arm and a leg to fix. i dont see what the problem is | THE SWEETEST NORMALLY ASPIRATED STRAIGHT SIX IN THE BMW STABLE IS THE N52. IT'S OFFERED EVERYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. MY ORIGINAL QUESTION IS WHY HAVE THEY CHOSEN TO ELIMINATE THIS ENGINE? While the 528 does have 230HP, the torque is only 200. That's weak. When the turbo's go at 60,000 miles, perhaps you'll re-think your choice.
