I posted this on m5board.com as well. The other night out of nowhere, I noticed that my navigation map showed me driving in the middle of the ocean heading towards the Bahamas. I figured it would recalibrate itself, however it hasn't. I must say it started getting closer to where I was but still way off. I had a 2002 Lexus, and I remember being able to calibrate the map if something like this happened, however I can not find out how to do it on my 2002 M5. The build date by the way was 3/2002. Can anyone help, or has anyone experienced this before??? Thanks Tom

Consider this:
Your nav might have been going crazy because of a power higher than BMW. The US government has the ability to reduce positioning accuracy or shut off all sat. navigation capability for civilian use.

Did you notice if any whales were trying to cross the road?

Such issues are known to occur if the car if hauled around on a flatbed etc. with the NAV shut off. The newer BMW NAV systems will recalibrate after a while after being 'rebooted' - that means the car is locked for more than 20 minutes.
about a 2002 M5 - you might try to disconnect the battery for enforcing such a reboot/recalibration, however your owner's manual might be more specific here.

Thanks guys. As far as the Govt shutting down the satalites, well I guess other people would be having problems right? Well i tried reseting last night and it still was off by a few miles. I did notice when i hit the emergency button, my lat and lon where not the same from google earth at my house. I just hope there is nothing majorly wrong here, which means a trip to the stealership. Though this could mean I can do the stereo overhaul I have thought about doing!!!
