  Wtf? 2 year warranty?

 Wtf? 2 year warranty?

Hi all,

I have a question regarding BMW Warranty.

I bought a pre-owned 2003 BMW Z4 from a BMW dealership back in May of 2005. It had only 15,000 miles on when I bought the car.

Does the 4-year, 50,000 miles warranty apply to pre-owned BMW vehicles as well that is sold by BMW dealerships?

My dealership notified me that my warranty is going to run out in the middle of this year. It hasnt even been 2 years yet since I bought my car!

Is this correct? Am I not supposed to get the 4-year 50,000miles warranty from the time I purchase the car from the BMW dealership?

The clock on your warranty started at the time of original sale, not when you bought the car. I'm in the same boat - I bought both my 2003s in 2005, and both warranties will run out this year.

However, since you bought your car from a BMW dealer, it should have been CPO (Certified Pre-Owned), which means the warranty should be 6 years/100,000 miles from the time of original sale. You should have until 2009, unless your car wasn't certified; your dealer might be willing to certify the car now, but there would be an additional charge, maybe a couple thousand bucks.

Not all pre-owned cars are CPO. If his dealer is saying his warranty is going to expire, it is not CPO.

Are you really serious? Why would the warranty restart just because you bought it. It's a used car for goodness sakes.

Why ,,should it have been``?

You canīt certify a car like that post sale.

You should be able to buy an extended warranty from your dealer, as long as the original one has not yet expired.
