I just recently returned from an ED trip, and I did keep it under 4500, but very early on in my trip, I was accelerating into traffic and felt just what you mean (well, almost.) This engine revs so much quicker than I expected that I was up to 4500 in no time! I had to back off quickly. And power was coming on very quickly too. I found myself really wondering what it would do if it were allowed to run up past 4500 - I bet it is a different car!

I still don't fully buy in the "keep it under 4500" break in rule. I've been reving higher than that... i mean what can happen?

Sure! I agree it is a different car, same way I've experienced it driving down south to Richmond on I-95 in sportsmode, 100 was too easy!
......and that rev. sounds was better than sex.
..... hmmm take that back, lets just say close second!

Nothing!
... just a old thinking for a new cars to make sure all seals and rings gets properly seated, etc. thats why they ask that you slowly bring it up to speed.
....just like cycling, you dont see ur heartrate climb up to speed the first few miles, but as soon as it reaches target rate, boy its hard to stop!
... its showtime!
