Does anyone know what a cradle for one of BMW's approved bluetooth cellphones looks like? Where does it go? What does it cost? Does it require the dealer to install?
I've got a 2006 325i and I just got a Verizon - Motorola E815 bluetooth phone. BMW offers a cradle which acts as a charger and allows the use of the roof antenna for better reception. No one at my dealership seems to know what it looks like and where it goes. They've given me several prices and have varying opinions as to whether this is something that I can install easily myself. Help!

Here is the picture from the acessories brochure (which your dealership should have)! It goes in the center console to the right of the cup holder! I also put the supported phones page from the BMW usa website.

Do the cradles interfere with the auxiliary audio input?

Help! | The service manager at my dealership wasn't much help either. Really didn't know anything about the cradle. When I received the car (end of May) said it wasn't available and when Iasked him about what I read about it improving reception via the antenna, also claimed ignorance. I am disappointed re: the lack of knowledge at the dealer about several of the technical aspects of the car. psyran

It is connected to an external antenna to offer improved reception and transmission capability. BMW provides advanced digital and analog cellular service throughout the USA and Canada. Hope that helps.... essentially the cradle becomes hard wired into the car connecting to the BMW Assist antenna, and charges the phone at the same time. I believe the phone still connects via bluetooth to the handsfree system. I am also perplexed by this because the system requires the dock and then the cradle so 2 seperate pieces and about $300 plus install. I honestly can't see it improving service that much and a cheap adapter for charging is like $10. I think it is a huge waste personally, and feel that it would still provide extra reception just having the other antenna on the roof. Best of Luck!

I have recently upgraded to the e815 motorola phone also.I took it to BMW and they had to order the new plate for the console because 2005 differs from 2006 330I's. Thats the problem with a year before the year car, they find the bugs with yours. It's still on order.
