I'm new to the BMW world and Love how the BMW looks and perform.  I always wanted one and almost traded my Jeep for a 99 BMW 528I 5-Speed. But I decided to keep the Jeep. Now my dad said I can get one this summer and my Budget will be around 15k. So far I'm looking at a 00-03 530I or 00-03 328I or 00-03 330I or 1997 M3. What are yall opinion? This will be my new dd for College and etc... Edit* forgot to say IT WILL BE a MANUAL! Thanks Anthony |

Get either the 03 530i or the 03 330i, with the least miles, you'll enjoy it, it will be more reliable, and those are both excellent years.

Obviously, how new and how few miles depends on your wallet, but even 2003 530i's are running at reasonable prices now. I think 2001 was the facelift for the 5-series which included much better taillights and the angel eye headlights. In 2001, the 328i became the 330i, so you're not going to find a 2002 328i  However, I'd avoid 2001 3-series due to the too-light power steering rack. In 2002, the 3-series sedan was facelifted. Either of the two models mentioned above should be reasonably reliable and much fun to drive, and in fact, use the same engine.
