Just like BMW has been systematically removing the involvement from new BMWs, look what they did to the new Mini:
1. Rear suspension tuned to reduce oversteer/high yaw rate 2. Electric steering less involving, less accurate at the limit 3. Exhaust 'burble' removed on US models only 4. Quieter, more 'refined' engine 5. Sport suspension no longer standard on Cooper S
Reminds me of the 2001 330i.
Can enthusiasts never catch a break?

Meh.
Most of the MINI R56 comments I've caught on "another" board seem to think the change is for the better.
If I want a raw motoring experience, I go drive Magnus.

What you need is a home made go cart. BMW must be concerned with fuel economy, safety, consumer desires, etc. This is true for EVERY car company that wants to survive. My advice is to go find an old 325es, mini, Civic, etc. and supe the thing up and have some fun.

Yea, I did hear about the Mini being a bit less "go-kart-like" and less tossable than the previous version. And geez, the radio controls are 99% identical to the ones in the 3-series. Geez I swear they used the exact same software...............
