 replacing RV mirror

Hey all...

I want to replace my rv mirror with one that auto dims...Pacific BMW offers one for $227.00 plus shipping. They offer one with the universal Transceiver as well for $367.00, again plus shipping.

These are said to be for the E90 with rain sensing wipers.

A few questions:

1. Seem like a fair price? If so, which is the better deal?
2. Has anyone done this?
3. If so, is there a DIY for it?

Thanks to anyone witht the knowledge to comment or give direction. If you guys give the go ahead, I will order tomorrow.

JIM

Someone already posted this.. not sure if it was you. I had already posted that I was told it would NOT work from Circle BMW in NJ they said the car needed the packages in the Premium to accept the auto dim. They took my vin and plugged it in and said no go the car is not prewired for it. Good luck, if you get it to work please tell us.

EDIT: It was you that I originally posted to. So this has already been discussed.

OH.....

The last word was issued? I appreciate your post but.....

I checked with Pacific BMW. They show this part as working as long as you have option 430 or 431. Is this premium package? PLease advise.

Also, the fact that you posted/discussed this doesn't prohibit further discussion. I am simply asking for some guidence...not a slap on the back of the head...

Maybe I am misinterpreting your above post?

BTW- Does the Premium Package come with this mirror?????

Yes those are the premium package and yes it come with the premium.

This is my response to your original post a few weeks back read from the bottom up:

NOT POSSIBLE! I had a thread on this a while ago, I contacted Circle BMW and they told me that based on my vin I could not install the mirror I was missing some package. Basically it was part of the premium pack, which I obviously did not have. They said the car is not prewired here is my emails: If you have any different luck please fill me in!!!

-, sorry for the delay in response. it does not appear at this time that you may install a selfdimming mirror. the part # that you supplied only applies to vehicles that have option codes that do not apply to your vehicle. there is no prewiring.thanks for the inquiry, circle bmw parts

I did not order the premium package which was the only way to get the option from the factory and was wondering if it is possible to retrofit it any other way..... my last 7 #'s are:
KR58579. I am guessing not, but hoping yes. Thanks for your time!

Hi,
I am just curious if it is possible to retrofit the self-dimming rearview mirror on the E90 325i. Part 51160028300,
the one without HomeLink. Any insight to this would be great
