 E91 Update (UK)

Bad news from my supplying dealer today - I won't be able to take delivery of my new E91 Touring on the UK launch day of 17th September now (as hoped), but later on in the first week, so those of you who have expressed interest in hearing my first impressions will have to wait a few more days I'm afraid!

The spec is as follows;

320d SE 6 speed manual (163hp 340nm 48mpg)
Arctic Metallic
Sports Multi Function Steering Wheel
Navigation System Professional with idrive
Voice Control (full version to include Naviagtion / climate / entertainment / phone etc)
Adaptive Headlights inc Xenons, headlight rings, headlight washers and automatic light / rain sensor
Bluetooth Telephone Preparation with snap in adaptor / charger
Storage Compartment Package (in addition to twin rear climate control vents, twin Rear 12v sockets and storage compartment, backrest nets on backs of front seats)
Velour Floor Mats (can't believe that this is an extra!)

Sounds similar to my spec, although I'm not in a position to burn £2K on satnav, I'll get a road atlas

I was also considering Arctic, looks nice. Or Metallic Black. Have you not upgraded the wheels or gone for electric or sports seats?

I'll probably be going to the E91 launch next weekend at the local dealership to grab a look at one but I want to get my order in before then, cos everyone will want one once they see it

Mines a company car so it doesn't actually cost me the £2k, but my last 2 cars have had nav and I couldn't be without it now!. I find it a huge asset, not just for navigation (I do 35k a year) but for all the added functions - and it's a great in car boredom cure!

I don't need electric seats as I'm the only driver, so they never move! I originally opted for sports seats, but after a 3 day test drive I found the standard seats to be extremely comfortable and very supportive so I changed the options.

As for wheels, after years of experience, I have found 16" alloys to provide the most comfortable and quiet ride (whilst providing completely adeqaute road holding), with far less likelehood of kerb damage than bigger ones. As it happens, I also like the style of the 4 cylinder SE wheels more than most of the 17" styles (don't like the ES ones though). My test car had 18" rims and even after only a few thousand miles, every wheel was kerbed (not by me I hasten to add).

Like you I'll make do with the launch minus my car on Saturday. Expect a 2-3 month wait when you order (even if before the launch).

Ah, think maybe you mentioned that about the seats in my other thread.

Satnav: Mine's a company car too but it's an extra £40 a month on the lease (the total is over my allowance so I do pay it), plus the close to 10% increased tax

I really didn't like the wheels when I saw them in a showroom, don't know why.

A guy in a dealership told me a 6 week waiting list at the moment. I want it before the end of the year for the EuroIV discount, so I'd better get ordering! (again!)

I reckon he's saying 6 weeks just to secure your order. I've never had a new BMW arrive in less than 10-12 weeks, so I reckon you are starting to cut it fine for the year end Euro4 cut off.

As for the Sat Nav, it worth every penny of £40 pcm if you can stretch to it, but I guess if you've never had it you won't miss it (besides, it's a waste if you do the same run to work each day - I travel all over southern UK)

Ah crap, well we'll see. Will try to place the order on Monday. I'd do it today but Leaseplan's internet tool is on the blink

I don't fancy paying another 3% tax for 4 years.

As for the satnav, I drive all over the UK but not more than 15K a year these days. Don't remember the last time I got lost That's a good 12 pints a month right there.
