I think you posted this in the wrong forum, the data is for the 2005. E90 is the newer 2006 model! And yes I would not be surprised if the E46 has some safety issues... older design and technoology has come along way.... and the side air bags are now in the seats which is better than the door as in all other BMW's and the head system is the full curtain from front to back. Essentially BMW went with the technology that has made Audi the safest cars on the road, no longer Volvo! http://www.iihs.org/ratings/default.aspx

Um what? Volvo was the first to put the side bags in the seat (they were first to market followed by Mercedes who put them in the door) and they debuted the full length inflatable curtain in '98 on the S80 (either a couple of months before or after the S-class as I recall.) Not sure how you would confuse this with Audi.
