 BMW corporate being silly

BMW ought to hear from BMW and Mini enthusiasts about this.
This was found on an English auto enthusiasts' forum.

FORD is doing the same to sites that use the Mustang name....shutting them down or having the site change its name.

I don't see a problem with this. Registered trademarks and brands, in this case the MINI, are very valuable assets of a company. It costs the companies billions of dollars to create a successful brand. Why sould they allow others profit from it?

I think that BMW's decision is right.

X2.

What would happen with a liability issue with this stuffed Mini? Maybe some kid chokes on it then the lawyers hop on it and drag the Mini name through the mud.

There's the exact same liability if a kid chokes on an officially-licenced Mini T-shirt --- and about as much chance as well.
This product is no different than a plastic (or metal) model car.
What if someone gets a BMW logo tattooed on their arm (or chest, or buttock, or...)? Will BMW then demand that they be flayed alive? In effect it's just free advertising for BMW.

With the officially licensed T shirt BMW/Mini has built in part of the cost for legal/litigation. They have control over an officially licensed product.
