I was driving my E90 325i with iDrive today and the screen suddenly went blank. I had no problem driving my car though. After a few seconds the BMW logo screen reappeared and I got my iDrive menu back. That looked like a software glitch to me.
Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Myn does this pretty often. It takes atleast 5 minutes to reload. Must be a glitch or the computer is confused  THe whole idrive seems a lot slower and confused than my previous x3 with nav.

Only happened to me once, when I was using it for guidance, using the wheels to navigate the radio, and messing with the phone (voice commands)
Basically it was the first day I had the car and en route home, and it froze probably from doing too much all at one time.
Hasn't happened since then.

This happened to me trying to get to my hotel in Barcelona. Was very unnerving, specially where it went out. I did the reboot by myself:
- depress both eject buttons, and the mute (black knob) at the same time.
It's the for iDrive. Has not happened since. However, my phone has unpaired on it's own, in teh middle of a call. I had to go through the Bluetooth pairing process again, after deleting the address book on the car, and the BMW profile on my phone.

mine rebooted on it's own only once... I was using navigation to get me through some very twisty roads near Mt. Tam (surrounded by tall redwoods that likely blocked the GPS signal, so idrive was probably using dead reckoning)... Then I missed a turn... While the nav tried to recalculate a new route (to account for the missed turn), I decided to just reverse the car, go back 50 ft and catch the turn I should have taken... Well, that probably confused the hell out of Nancy (the name I gave my Nav voice), so she just crashed and rebooted... no effect on the car itself... That happened about 8 weeks ago, and I've had no problems since...
