 XI or Snow Tires?

Newbie Here

I'm looking to purchase my first E90 3-Series, and I was sold on the 325xi. Then after going to the dealer, the salesperson stated that "the 325i with snow tires is 80% of the 325xi in terms of handling and grip on the road". So the question posed here is, is the xi worth it or should I just go with snow tires. PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE!

Snow tires will you get through the worst winter NY has to offer.

im in the same boat as you. honestly its up to you. im not willing to take a chance. i dont feel like spending more $$ for a set of wheels and tires.

Here's a novel idea. Put snow tires on the same rims. If you scratch em up after a few winters, whatever they're just 17's. Upgrade to the summer wheels you really wanted - style 162.

um.... your XI will be just as much of a roller skate in the snow as a RWD 3er without the right tires.

snows with storage: 1100 dollars
removal and mounting: 160 dollars, round trip
no more "my car sucks in the snow" posts: priceless.....

you want all wheel drive, get all wheel drive, but it's a performance feature, not a means to a hybird all weather machine. 50/50 weight balance makes my e90, and made my e46 better cars in worse winters with RWD than anything (including an old quattro) I have ever owned...

So naturally you pay for the snows with a Mastercard .
