Tire wear on 325i w/ SP?

Two Issues:

1) Just wondering if the differing tire sizes on the sport package, primarily the low profile tires on the rear, will wear faster than the standard tires that come with the stock 16". Will the rear tires wear faster than the front causing them to be replaced more often...thus uneven tread in the front and rear? I love the rims on the SP, but it's not worth the money if I'm going to be replacing tires much more often.

2) Also, does anyone know the estimated mileage life of the tires with the 16's? Thanks for the help...narrowing my decisions down to order....just gotta get rid of my ride first

As always, thanks!

1) the sport tires are a softer stickier compound and will wear relatively fast compared to all seasons.
2) mileage with the 16's depends on a lot of factors, tire pressure rotating and driving habits. about 20k+

Only 20k for a brand new set of tires on the bimmer? That sounds a little...well...crapy for a $30k+ car. I looked around on the internet and found most Bridgestones to be at least 40k+. Is that prediction of 20k+ with near NASCAR like driving?

Front tire on a staggered setup (SP) will wear faster than the rear. Im chnging my stndrd 16" to OEM 17" SP style 161 alloys.

I wanted to go runflats like the OEM pirellis and bridgestones. but after carefull thoughts, talking to tire dealers, and reading post, Ive conclude, as least for mu usage, that pilot sports A/S will be the way to go. I dont really race, i like smoothe ride and thread life maybe 25-30k, better than the runflat ultra/max performance tires at 15k.

You are probably more correct in the miles, I forgot that these are not a sticky tire at all but a mileage tire, I was thinking michellim when I wrote the original 20k+. Where I live we have nothing but windy roads and no matter the tire or the driver they really do not last that long!!
The stock ones will last a while, the sports will definately NOT!

are you going to buy it to enjoy driving it????????

fun cars eat tires, lame cars have tires that last forever

mileage has far too many variables to judge what you're going to get by other's experiences
