Will the E90 diesel be coming to the USA?

I'm a diesel fan and am curious if anybody had heard anything about the E90 diesels currently being sold in Europe some day being exported to the USA. So many great diesel engines in Europe, and so few of them here.

Here's an article that mentions a 318i diesel in the E90:

I can't find the initial place where I read about it. But I know BMW has always had diesel sedans in Europe.

I'd say BMW will bring back diesels to the U.S., but probably start with the X5 since they already make an X5 diesel here.

There isnt much of a market for diesel engines in BMW's here in the US. I highly doubt they will bring one here...

Herr Panke disagrees:
In the United States, diesel technology has never been able to shake an image of being noisy, smelly and dirty. Mr. Panke said the high price of gasoline might prompt Americans to give it a fresh look, particularly since the newest turbocharged diesel engines can be hard to distinguish from gas-powered ones.
