From what I understand, the new 3-series convertibles are scheduled to be in showrooms Spring, 2007! I'm wondering among your BMW owners and afficianatos if anyone is debating whether to get a current model ragtop or wait till the new versions appear? My question is based on both your opinions of the appearance (superficial thing, perhaps) as well as anticipated changes in drivetrain, suspension, and other "improvements". The new design still has me unsure. As my name suggests, I've lusted over this car for a while now . . . am interested in the collective opinion out there! I have not seen any pics or renditions of the upcoming convertible, and am wondering if anyone has? Got any thoughts on this?  Thanks for ideas/opinions Doug |

the 3 series is a pretty girly car as a convertible
get a hardtop 3 or a Z4 if you lust for a droptop
3 series droptops are mostly owned by women

Perhaps in your neck of the woods it's a girly car - around here I almost never see women driving them. I've had sports cars all my life - time for a car I can drive all year round with 4 seats that has some class, handling, and drop top capability.

I've heard rumors that the E93 (I think that's the expected designation for the new design 3 series convertible) is going to be a hardtop convertible. That, combined with the new body style, should be pretty slick IMO.
I'm holding on to my 02 330cic until it comes out, and then I'll decide. If I don't like it, there's always the 645cic.
For now, everytime I drive my car I love it more.....

Two years, if it arrives on schedule. I might consider it then. I drove the current one but didn't like the lack of power.
