Closing the sunroof?
I have had my E90 for about 3 months now and absolutely love it. For the most part I've figured out all of the details. One still eludes me, however, and it is driving me nuts. I still can't figure out how to close the sunroof (or windows for that matter) once I've turned off the ignition. The manual indicates that the door key will close the windows, but I don't carry the valet key with me - only the fob. Each time I forget to close the sunroof, I have to get back in the car and re-start the engine. forget about the valet key!
your master key that yu use for the ignition has a separate physical-old fashion key inside it. to get to it, there is a small notch on the master-key case that yu need to press and pull the ends.
once you push the notch/lock and the ends, a key will come out, WALLA! thats the manual steel key that is similiar to the valet key that is hidden in the key case, that you need to insert in the drivers door and turn and if yu hold it long enuf, it will close all windows and after which the sunroof will follow.
dont forget, that same key can be use to unlock the trunk too, the key hole is at the right side of the license plates, hidden behind/below the trunk lid next to the right tail light.

I figured that there had to be a simple solution, but I've found that the manual, well, is near worthless. Most things I've figured out by simply playing around or by trial and error. Thanks for the help!

What the hell am I doing wrong? | If you put the key fob into the key slot on the dash and press the Start/Stop button without pressing the brake pedal in AT or clutch in Manual car the electronics come to life and you can close the windows and sun roof.

Thanks for the help! | Has it occured to you that things could be even simpler? Yes, you now don't need to turn the engine on, but you still have to walk back to the car, fumble with that key, stick it in the door, and hold it long enough for the sunroof to close. Wouldn't it be nice to simply hold a button on the fob and have all windows and sunroof close, remotely? Well... BMW engineers were forced to disable that function (at least in the previous E46 iteration) because their corporate lawyers wouldn't let them ship it. Users could harm themselves and sue... Something for you to think about.
