For those of you who have the auto dimming mirros and your windows tinted, do you find the mirros to be too dark with the added tint or do they only dim as much as needed?
Thanks.

Good question. I would think that since the sensor in the rear view mirror would "see" headlights from the rear through the tinted window, its effects would be adjusted correspondingly. That is, since the tint is already doing some of the work, it would dim less, yielding the same approximate dimming as if ther were no tinted windows.
Unless the dimming is an on/off function rather than a gradual fade. If it is on/off, then there might be a problem, depending where the cut-off value in the sensor is vs. the amount of tint on the rear window.
I guess I'll know in late October!

Thanks. | My windows are tinted 35 percent all around. I had the car for about a week before tinting the windows and was worried that it may be too dark as well. But I can say now that I haven't experienced any problems with the mirrors being too dark. Seems like the auto dimmers take the extra darkness into account.

I guess I'll know in late October! | According to the owners manual the automatic dimming feature for both the interior and exterior mirrors are controlled by two photo cells in the interior rearview mirror. One in the mirror frame and the other on the back of the mirror. But, as you pointed out this could be and on/off type sensor or gradual fade according to lighting conditions. If it does in fact adjust to the amount of light then it shouldn't be a problem. On or off would be another story.
Hopefully we'll here from some other folks on their experiences. My Titanim Silver beauty is just screaming for some tint to set her off.

My tsx has auto dimming side mirrors and i have a 28% tint. I think it is kind of dark, but sufficient as long as you're just looking for headlights. I'm getting something lighter on my e90, maybe 35%.
