 cup holder ventilation

Hi, I just received my new '06 325i with premium, navi, heated seats, steptronic, sat radio prep. it's a ridiculous car. anyone doubting or even contemplating whether or not to get a 3-series, go out and get one right now. it's that good.

anyway, I noticed in the front driver's center armrest, there is a ventilated looking cupholder, and next to the cupholder is a switch. I noticed that when I flip the switch to a certain position, hot air flows out of the cupholder. What is this feature, and how do I use it?

Thanks.

Helps keep your coffee warm has been my understanding. Does it cool too?

Oh, and I hear soon we'll get the optional cooler under the armrest and microwave built into the dash Seriously though, I've wondered how useful this ventilated cup holder feature is. Does anyone use it? Find it useful?

I've used it to keep my ipod cool as they can generate a fair amount of heat

I am pretty sure it is just an extra vent that blows whatever (driver side) temp air into the armrest area.
