Finalizing paperwork for my E90 today I was offered a "tire and wheel protection" for $399 for 4 years. Does anybody recommend that? How much does it cost to replace a run-flat tire? Doesn't car insurance cover damage to the wheel if that happens?

I would check the fine print if it is prorated. Because it would kinda suck if they say ok the tire got 1 mile left so (fake numbers) 200/10,000 = 2 cents per mile, ok we give u 2 cents towards a new tire. But who knows If they say not prorated, make them put it in writing.

Maybe your insurance does. But you also probably have some kind of deductible on your insurance even for "comprehensive" claims. Also if it happens too much its likely they'll raise your rates.
Then again there is no way the tire will cost more than $400 to replace, soon it will be closer to $300. I've only had one flat on my current car in the past four years.

That type of stuff is a major profit center for the dealer. It is insurance and on average it makes money for the issuer. If you can assume some risk and if you don't live on pot-hole nail infested street, don't get it. Your tires won't last anywhere near 4 years, more like 1-2. Unless, they are planning to replace worn out tires...

They offer me the same thing, but I declined. I don't think is worthed. You have run flat tires with tread that last about a year (12k miles).

12K miles! Is that really it?!? That's totally absurd. Where can I verify that I have to change my tires every single year??
