06 325i aligment /w sports package
Hi, I recently hit something on the freeway, and I called the dealership to get an aligment, and they told me because I have the sports package on my car that only the dealership can do the aligment because of sactive steering and other stuff on my car due to the sports package, and that its going to cost me 550 dollars, compared to the outside people who do aligments for 110-120 dollars, is this what the dealership saying true? that no one can do the algiments besides them?

Did you pay for the active steering option? I dont think that would have anything to do with the alignment of the tires. Sounds like they are trying to screw you.
Dealer alignment is not cheap, I just paid $216 for a 4 wheel alignment on my 2003 540i. It is so expensive because they have to load the car with 500 lbs. of sandbags to do the alignment, most tire or alignment shops will not be able to do this.
Dont quote me on this... I have heard that the new BMW's dont require the car to be loaded with weights when doing an alignment. If this is true, then you should be able to take your car to any reputable alignment shop with new equipment, and have it done for around $100 bucks. I dont know this 100% true, I just recently heard this information from a member on another board.
