Wood v. Aluminum Trim
1. Which do you like better? 2. Ratio of vehicle produced with wood v. aluminum? 4. I'm guessing market research reveals most 3 series buyers prefer wood? Wood is not bad, but I must have aluminum. Its so hard to find though. | | Reply » Wood v. Aluminum Trim | it COMPLETELY depends.
First of all, wood looks better on beige or lighter colors.
Alum looks good on black or terra or dark colors.
i've seen sparkling graphite, black interior and aluminum ITS AWESOME.
I though, opted for silver, black interior and aluminum. Though i haven't seen it, i'm sure its awesome. i did this because silver is a more 'classic color.' i know 5 years down the line when i try to sell it, people won't be sick of it. its evergreen. The sparkling graphite is still sweet though.

| | Reply » Wood v. Aluminum Trim | I'm a wood guy all the way. Too me Aluminum just looks too modern, spaceship like, it is metal and wood says refined luxury........
Now put copper in there instead of aluminum and I'm all over it, don't know about the wear or anything but from an aesthetics standpoint bamm that would rock.... !
| | Reply » Wood v. Aluminum Trim | wood is nice too, but to be honest in the e90 i think aluminum stays true to the character of the car. its a small, compact car, lots of straight lines, and tight upholestry/leather seats (not 'plush' like lexus) (same with other german like audi). Personally, with the straight lines and tight leather seats, i think alum looks better, esp. on black interiors. wood looks better on more plush, luxurious interiors like lexus. i would not call the e90 a luxurious car, more sport.
just my .02.

just my .02. | I agree that the e90, has a sport feel to it, but much less than the e46. I think the e90 is a move toward the 5 series in design and dimensions, which continually increase. The body style of the e46 exuded a sports car, much less with the e90 imo. I'm trying to get a luxury feel from my new e90, although I realize it maybe a square peg in a round hole for some. I think it is the best of both a mixture of luxury and sport, how is that for a compromise?
I just wouldn't see myself with a sterile feel aluminum, nothing more than a personal preference.
