I love my 325is, but it's time to upgrade into an xi wagon. Should I get a '04 E46 or wait for E90?

Well, you live in Berkeley, so snow doesn't matter (the E90 will go better in the snow), so it doesn't really matter.

I have a house in S. Lake Tahoe, NV, which gets plenty of snow. Hoping to spend more time in NV. Just not sure about getting a first-year model in terms of quirks, etc. Have you compared yours to the specs on the new model?

The E90 is simply more advanced than the E46 - and it doesn't come with the styling baggage of the E60 and E65/66.
Consider a 325xi or 330xi by the way. I'm getting a 330xi.

I assume you mean the xiT. I am waiting for the e90 version. If nothing else it looks awesome. If you want to consider details (driving, handling, features etc.), I currently have an e90 and an e46 and I would not buy another e46 if you gave me $10k off. The e90 is that much better.
