 Ipod and the 2006 3-Series

What's the story on the iPod connector and the 06 3-series. My dealer says the current adapter isn't for the new 3, and dopesn't know when it'll be out. Any word??

Also - i have the nav systems (with iDrive, etc.). I read somewhere that I need to have get the cd-changer in order to play mp3's, but there is a connection spot in the armrest - what's the story here? I haven't tried to connect yet due to the iPod connection thing.

What's the scoop?

Dean

i think your dealer is right. from what i understand the ipod integration isnt available for the e90 yet.

the mp3 capabilities is not available if you have the idrive system unless you also buy the 6-disc cd changer. ive heard and read rumors on forums that this might be fixed with the next bmw update, which i think will be coming in a few weeks. i could be wrong though.

what i currently do to play my ipod in my honda pilot is that i bought a connector from sik.com and it acts like a dock for your car. i also had to buy an aux cable. those cables usually run for about 10 bucks and the connector was in the ballpark of 30 bucks. once my car gets here ill just simply plug the aux cable into the plug in the armrest and then set the stereo to the aux input. im hoping that would do the trick.

mike.

My dealer told me you can use the AUX input in the armrest but that's all. I don't think he even knew about proper ipod integration.

I think I'll probably pick up one of these

that look pretty cool, but personally i dont think i would want my ipod sticking out like that. it doesnt look right to me, id have it inside the armrest and use my RF remote for it.

i checked the compatability on the website and it says its not available if you have the navi system....

Origional BMW Ipod adapter is available. Stands in the september pricelist. You get the connector in your glovebox. But it is nog available if jou have a cd changer or bluetooth.

Thatīs not correct. There is no iPod integration yet available for MOST-based BMWs, just iBus based BMWS at this time. This is based on U.S. offerings.
