I just returned from a ten day trip to CA which I began right after placing my 325i order here in the East.
Not that I see a lot of E90's on the road here in the East, but figured I'd see a reasonable number in CA. Instead I saw VERY few.
Over several days I saw at most ten driving around SD and LA and while driving up the PCH. I'd been hoping to see more, especially since I'd been having second thoughts about my color choice.
What really surprised me is over three days in SF I saw none until seeing just one my last day - and it's not from a lack of BMW popularity there - I've never seen a higher concentration of older 3's than I saw while driving through SF. BTW, if the owner of the Monaco Blue E90 which was parked on Fulton Sunday morning is reading this now, your car looked very nice.

You probably just couldn't see all the e90's because the state is neck deep in e46's.
I don't have a very long commute but usually see a couple each day. Yesterday I saw 5-7 e90's as I drove from the West San Fernando Valley to Pasadena and back.
Trust me, there are plenty to be seen, though I must admit there are not a wide variety of colors out there. Mostly silver, one blue, and two dark grey and one or two black so far.

I see at least one every day in SF and bay area. I've also seen every color in SF including red.

you may have seen some and dissmissed them as e60's. I have done that several times as their body styles are more similiar than the e46 IMO.
