Hypotethetically speaking, if my wife were to have backed into someone in her X5 causing some minor bumper and tailgate damage, would I be obligated to tell BMW Finance or have it repaired at a BMW shop? Just curious.... |

Quote: | I don't believe that BMW body shops are substandard. | Agreed! I purchased a CPO'd Z3 Coupe from Brecht in Escondido, CA. Part of the deal required repainting the entire hood, (lots of stone chips) repair of a pole-dent on a 1/4 panel, and a new windshield. The affected areas looked terrific, and the paint was perfectly matched.

i made the mistake of taking it to bmw n.j . most do not have their own body shop??? the repair for 5 series 06. bumper and headlight no body damage 2500.00 us. my 1000 dect. net loss 1500.00 but if i took it to a pro shop cost 2100 cash. out of pocket 1100. 00 no carfax info reported plus now my rates rose $400 yr for 2.5 years . for me it was a bad mistake to turn claim it . and no go to local great shop and pay cash. by being honest i got nailed. bob

I'm leasing. If I need body work, I'm putting it square in the hands of BMW, not Billy Bob's Body Shop. When I turn that puppy in and disclose the repair, there can be no possibility of BMW complaining because they did the repair.
