BMW = the Ultimate Driving Machine, not the ultimate carry me to where I need to be while drinking my slurpie machine. If you want cupholders buy a mini-van. 
I strongly discourage my passengers bringing anything into the car that will hinder their ability to hold on for dear life. They usually thank me for that information after the ride has come to a full and complete stop.  (insert mental image of "The Hire" video series, the one with Madonna in the back of the M5   )

im a nit picker when it comes to cars as i WILL analyze everything.
and yes, i do take drinks with me
dont get me going on the glove department.
but seriously, this wotn stop me from buying the car though.

Designed for the autobahn where if you drink something, eat something, or on your cell phone you will get a ticket, so why need cupholders.

I agree, when I drink it's a gatorade/water/soda with a screw on top. They fit fine.
No food ever gets eaten in my car, never has, never will, that is what a restaurant is for. If you want cupholders, get an SUV, watch DVD's and eat some popcorn while you drive.
