330i with no leather: resale problem?
Hi all: placed an deposit on a 330i ED today, took a few hours of calling different dealers to get the deal I wanted but persistence paid off Anyway: talking with about 8 dealers today, each of them made a comment about no leather in a 330i. I ordered 330i, manual, heated seats, sport, silver trim. They're like "i've never seen a 330i with leatherette!". I still have a few days to head to the dealer and see both for myself. I've had a 330i leather and M3 leather, and they both dont age well (wear out fast) and are a PIA to keep up properly. I'm not trying to start a leather vs. "ette" thread, but will lack of leather be a resale issue down the road? I figured most people really wouldnt even know the difference... Its a $1320 option for me so maybe I'll just add it | | Reply » 330i with no leather: resale problem? | yup... people want leather in the non base cars.
| | Reply » 330i with no leather: resale problem? | I am getting a 330 without leather because I don't need it and heard that the leatherette is easier to care for and wears better than the leather anyway. I look at it from the point of view that I am buying the car for myself, not for someone who might buy it 3-5 years from now. Obviously I wouldn't buy a purple car or anything, but I don't think that leather would be a showstopper for someone if the leatherette is just as nice and will be in better looking condition.

The vinyl interior of the Koman test car I drove was much nicer than the cracked, fading leather of my present E 36. As to resale, it may depend on how long you plan to keep the car - after 3 years there may be much less price differential and interest differential between the two because the vinyl is starting to look fresher than the leather.

First: you're buying the car for yourself. Second: You're not that unique. You'll always find takers. Third: dealers will also tell you not to get manual for the same reason...they want you to spend more dough.
Get the car as you desire. F what the dealer says.
