 325 oil filter

Does anyone know the location of the oil filter cannister / housing? Has anyone jacked the car up? Additionally, it appears the design of the lift points does not lend well to jackstands. Comments from DIY'ers?

The Oilfilter is reachable by simply opening the hood. No need to look under the car. Itīs right at the front end of the engine (to the right, near the intake manifold) pointing upwards. Itīs an alloy housing with a plastic top that can be unscrewed with a spanner (or the propper BMW tool) to take out the filter inset

I thought the object you described was it yet the housing appears to be plumbed into the radiator which brought about my hesitancy. Being under-hood will make the job much easier than I anticipated. Getting that thing off the floor and removing the underpans didn't look like a lot of fun to me. Thanks for your response.
