Quote: | What would be a reasonable amount to cover all these admin. expenses? | MACO fees are actually a line item in dealer's invoice from BMWNA just like shipping so it is not really negotiable. The document processing fee is capped in many states by law but it may still be negotiable. You could totally elimanate it by you personally registering the car though you may want to think about that one since it is a time consuming process.

What Does MACO Stand For?

MACO fees are total B.S. The dealer simply adds them to the invoice to make them look official. Why would you pay for their advertising? Because the dealer tells you to?
This is nothing more than another scam by auto dealers to rip you off. It is no different than "undercoating".
No other retail business charges you an extra fee for advertising. Advertising costs are a part of doing business. Anyone who pays a MACO fee is a sucker.

Anyone who pays a MACO fee is a sucker. | If you bought a new BMW in the US someone is paying them, most likely you. If they take it out of their profit, then that's so but they are STILL BEING PAID.
This subject has been debated 1000 times, and the answer is it is a legit fee in some markets.
Who's the sucker now?
