My understanding is that you have to go to Munich and sign for the car.

You can't. You need to show proper ID, passport as the official owner. Pick-up (sign for the car) cannot be assigned.

You MUST go to pick up the car in Munich. And its the BEST way to get your car ... You'll drive your Bimmer on the roads that she was designed for.
Your savings in the car price would almost even out the trip cost, depending of course on how long you stay and how fancy you wanna go.
Check out teh ED forum. Tons on info there

Right. It would kind of eliminate all other sales if you could do otherwise. Don't think the dealers would be too cool with a program where you ordered ED, and then paid Josef Schmuck to pick up and drop off your car.
