Power Seats & Key Fob Personalization

I have my 325i / Step / PP on order, but based on a couple of test drives had two questions:

1) With the power seats, is it possible to set it so that the seat automatically moves back when you turn the car off, and moves into position (driver memory) when you turn it on? I find that the ideal driving position of the seat and steering wheel is not the ideal position for getting in and out of the car. If not, then I can always use the seat memories for this if I need to (1 for driving, 2 for entry/egress) if needed.

2) With the key fob, I understand that it stores personalized settings and recalls them based on which key fob you use to unlock the car. Exactly what settings does this store/recall? With the seat memory, does it store the exact seat position, or does it link to one of the two memory presets on the seat ? How does it store all the information, does it just remember a snapshot of the last settings of all these things the when the car was last turned off (with that keyfob in use), or do you need to "store" everything - and what is the procedure for that.

Thanks

To answer the first question, no, the seat will never "automatically" move.

As for the second question, it appears as though you have two memory settings for each key. They are stored manually by pressing the memory button on the side of the seat, then pressing button 1 or 2.

I rented a town car once in which the drivers seat went back to allow ease of getting in and out of the car. This was a cool feature IMHO - on the other hand the car felt like you were in a boat!!

Ok so the "1" and "2" driver seat memories are seperate for each key fob, so if you had 2 fobs, there would be 4 possible seat memory positions.

Assuming you have something stored in the seat memory, when you use the key fob to unlock the car, will it automatically recall the memory (position 1), or do you need to still push the memory recall button to move it into place?

See what manual says about Personal Settings, page 19.

"Personal Profile
You can set many of your BMW's functions to
suit your personal needs and preferences.
Without any action on your part, Personal Profile
ensures that most of these settings are
stored for the remote control currently in use.
When you unlock the car, the remote control
used for the purpose is recognized and the settings
stored for it are called up and implemented.
This means that your personal settings are
active when you return to your BMW, even if the
car was used in the meantime by someone else
with a remote control of their own and the settings
were changed accordingly.
You can configure a maximum of three remote
controls for three different people. The prerequisite
for this is that each person has his or her
own remote control.
